In October 2026, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance published a monograph of his work with Skira, to coincide with the exhibition “Made in Situ” at the Mobilier national (Les Gobelins), where the designer is presenting the complete Made in Situ project, which he has been pursuing since 2019. Richly illustrated, the book traces the evolution of a singular approach in which craftsmanship, design and ecology meet, through a selection of furniture, lighting and objects created by the designer.
At the heart of Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance’s work lies what he calls “situated design,” an approach that conceives creation from a territory, a craft and a material. Attentive to the intrinsic qualities and aesthetic purity of materials, the designer seeks to reveal their essence. Wood, bronze, ceramic and cork enter into dialogue within collections of furniture, lighting and limited editions, composing a universe of restrained, precise lines. Material and gesture become the site of a dialogue between the designer’s vision and the artisan’s mastery.
Through the research, encounters and creations of the French designer, this book reveals another way of designing. Made in Situ offers an immersion into a contemporary creative practice, attentive to the provenance of materials, to the know-how that shapes them, and to the territories from which they come.
