To mark the opening of the “Made In Situ” exhibition at the Mobilier National, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance has invited artists Nicolas Becker and Matthieu Gasnier to create a sound performance. The composers generate sounds from the very materials in the collections, arranged on a central table where the performance takes place: bronze, cork, ceramics, schist…Small motors strike the materials. Each impact becomes a sound, mixed live by the two artists, who also manipulate certain materials to produce unique rhythms. The performance is filmed from a top-down view and broadcast live on a vertical screen, which, thanks to its transparency, creates an interplay of superimposition between the image and reality.
