Searching for the authenticity of the material and then revealing it. That is the goal of this new collection inspired by the cork oak tree found in the Massif des Maures, France. An endemic tree in this Mediterranean forest reserve, the cork oak is naturally fire-resistant and has an essential role to play in the battle against the ever-increasing forest fires.
An encounter between a region and its craftspeople, this fifth collection unveils the double nature of the same tree: the rough, sinuous wood and its unique, expressive cork bark. Worked in symbiosis, the wood and cork are revealed through the ‘savoir-faire’ of a woodworker, cork stripper, carpenter, furniture maker and artisan.
